A Labor or Love

My sister and I delivered 13 lap quilts to the Community Care Center in Stuart last week. These were quilts made as a challenge for the Iowa Quilters Group, an online group.

I was the lucky winner that got to bring all of these quilts home with me and choose a facility to donate.

We decided to donate to this care center in memory of the fine care given to our mother, Marian Beaman, a resident there at the end of her life.

She was a life long quilter and retired from this facility in the 90s as their activity director. While the director, she organized several quilt shows, hanging quilts down the residence halls and displaying them in the dining hall.

Shown in this picture is the present activity director and a couple residents. It was very heart warming to hear their comments. They loved the quilts and it brought back memories of their own family quilters.
