What's next?

The next holiday, of course.
Diana W. just made this cute little holiday wall hanging for us. Makes you want to chuckle, doesn't it? Ho Ho Ho!

And this is up next, two new stocking patterns from Suzn Quilts. Always love her fun ideas.

Sunday Sewday

Fall fun in stock now includes these first 4 samples made by Lonnie:
We also have these adorable pumpkin hangers in stock.
Just one pattern left on this handy casserole carrier. Next see what I accomplished in my weekend stitching.

This little mug rug comes in a kit for just $9.99 and includes the pattern, front, back and binding fabric and the leaf applique.

And this new pattern is called Jack Stack. I used wool for the applique, giving it a very soft yet dimensional look. We now have wool in stock, hand died by local artist Diane Theise.

Our Local Prize Winners

During the Row x Row event, we gave customers an opportunity to sign up for our email list and enter our drawing for prizes.

The names have been drawn. I was surprised to learn they are all from Iowa as we had lots of shoppers from out of state during the Row x Row event.
  • Trudy Oliver - Batavia
  • Julie Kordick - Norwalk
  • Jane McLeod - Bedford
  • Danille Curtis - Jefferson
  • Brenday White - Waukee
Each of these gals won a fat quarter of Row x Row fabric, a license plate, a quilt pattern by an Iowa designer and a $5 gift card.

Let me say it again, THANK  YOU to all who visited us this summer.

Winterset Covered Bridge Quilters stopped by.

We started our day with these friendly faces. Thanks for the visit, gals.

There was a second group that stopped by this same day in the mid afternoon, quilters from near the Ames area. I took their picture but lost it somehow. I also took several on their cell phones so, if any of you have a picture, send it to me!

October Quilt Circleof Friends

You may see some quilts that were also in the retreat pictures. Several of the Quilt Circle members were also Ladies of the Lake!
Like Lorna. She is showing the test block she made of our retreat quilt, Rainbow Connection.

and this is a cute wall hanging she made at retreat. She designed it to look like and old window frame.

and here's Abbie with her Rainbow Connection above and two t-shirt quilts below.

Marti shared this little Ocean Waves quilt she just put together from a pre-cut kit.

Diane and her daughter put together a donation quilt every year and this is the one they just finished. We all thought this is a great pattern for featuring fabrics.

and a new name tag. Clever.
Nancy shared this panel and her plans to make it the center of her Barn Quilt Block BOM.

Nancy shared this block. At retreat, each guest was given a piece of ombre fabric and told they could add a couple colors from the ombre to make a 12" comfort quilt block for our 2017 retreat. Nancy has hers done.

Nancy also shared this t-shirt quilt made for her daughter.

Her daughter was a mime in high school and this is part of her costume. Isn't that neat?

Lonnie made a new baby quilt using 5" charms. This is a shop sample for now so of course we have it in kit.

Here is the back. Flannel dachshunds.

Another by Lonnie. Her daughter in law specifically asked for this. Not an easy task but Lonnie loves a challenge and always does a great job.

The back is a soft minkee fabric. Won't her granddaughter just love this?

This is a table runner Lonnie has had done for several years. Well, at least done up to the point of binding but it is done done now.

Deb shared this very pretty quilt, made from a Strip Club Project called Morse Code.

She also showed some blocks she is making using the Hidden Snowball piecing. Nice.

and she introduced us to her new great nephew, Quentin. Love.

Speaking of love, Trish is working on this very special quilt that will be presented to the family of a fallen soldier.

Theresa is making baby quilts to have on hand for the next family baby. Isn't this cute? This would be a good Strip Club quilt, right?

It's been in pieces since 2004 but, it's all in one piece now. Good job, Lorna.

We handed out the next block in our Barn Quilt Block BOM. Everyone brought their blocks to show. Won't this be fun to watch grow? This month's pattern is the one in the center that I made.

Then I did a couple demos. First this pincushion made by stuffing 8 triangles and then hand stitching them together.

I also did a demo on the Fold N Stitch Wreath.

This is where we are heading. I'll post a completed picture of mine after it gets done serving it's time as a demo.

As always, we ended the evening by drawing for prizes. First prize is always 1 yard of fabric - winner chooses.  And then we had a little snack.

Always a great time with my Quilt Circle of Friends. Thank you once again to Jackie O for taking our pictures.

Last and anything but least, Lois W. worked on this 9 patch quilt. She has worked on it for at least 3 retreats. It is a big project with lots of little pieces.
Here it is done. Very striking. Well, maybe just one more retreat as she plans to add a couple borders. Nice job, Lois!
