The Snow Lady

Celia, known for making all things Snow Man, made this cute bag at Open Sew last week.

New backs!

We are expanding our selection of wide backs, including this very bright and pretty batik.

.
Plus this fan favorite, Circle Play. We have it coming in several different colors.

Just in!

We have carried Moda's popular plush fireside for several years, it has come mostly in darker colors. Well, here it is in beautiful pastels. At 60" width, it's a perfect backing for baby quilts and lap throws. I find it easier to work with and less messy than some comparable brands.

Sunday Sew Day

This is how I spent my sewing time last Sunday. I finished up three cosmetic bags to have as gifts at a holiday luncheon with friends on Monday. These are made with the new cork cloth. We have a free pattern for this bag. Super simple and all of the seams are finished, inside and out.

Folk Art Flannel II

Available in kit! With 2 kits, you can make the plaid borders wider and use the 10" panel print squares (like the center squares) for the outer border corner stones!  Just an idea.

Sunday, December 9, 2018

Another project using a Thicket panel and half square triangle units. Flo W made this based on a request from her daughter for a big bag for transporting a lap top and file folders. Very cool.

Penoach Winery Open House

With the straps!

I followed the plaid lines in this shirt to quilt it on to Soft and Stable interfacing. Love that stuff for stabilizing bags. I also put binding around the top and top-stitched the bag handles on the outside of the bag. Super simple, free download pattern here.

We have straps, magnetic snaps and Soft and Stable interfacing in stock now.

Had to share this. Gabe and his girlfriend, Brooke, had this done by a street vendor who drew it with a pencil in his mouth. Kind of amazing, isn't it?

This is a shot of the cosmetic bag inside. Visit us during our Holiday Open House, Dec 6, 7 & 8 and we will give you a free pattern to make this cosmetic bag.

Sunday Sewday!

I know this is selfish but, I was really hoping for a little snow last Sunday. I parked my machine by a big window and was planning to sew and watch it snow all day.

Well, I did sew all day but there was no snow out my window.  I put borders on two small quilts I had been working on. Then I  started this flannel tote bag (pending straps) and made this wallet from our new cork fabric.

Quilt Circle Met

Quilt Circle met on the 3rd Monday of November to sit in our circle and share.
Jackie O started our show and tell with these pretty quilts.

And this is a sample of play time on her embroidery machine. She has made several of these little turkeys.

Then she shared these vintage quilt tops and solicited advice on how to finish them.

Nancy H whipped up two little baby quilts for our Mercy PICU service project.

Plus she shared this bright little scrappy quilt and - -

- - - this fun tote bag she made for our License Plate Challenge.

This is Nancy's Farmer's Wife quilt - beautiful and done!

This panel may be the next thing under her needle.

Joyce S likes to make BIG quilts. This is her completed quilt using snowball blocks from our exchange.

And this one, using lots and lots of small scraps.
Lonnie cleaned her sewing room and brought several bags of fabric to donate to Margaret's church group ministry.

Kathy H is making blankets for our PICU service project and - - -

- - -sweatshirt pillows plus pillow cases for holiday gifts.

Theresa H shared this picture of her father receiving a Quilt of Valor.

And Theresa is making these doll sleeping bags and selling them to clients at her beauty salon.

Margaret shared this fun bag plus - -

this block, the next in a BOM she is doing with daughter Trish.

Margaret also shared this quilt she is working on, "Share Your Path"

Love her choice of colors for the path.

Here is Nancy J's License Plate Challenge.

Sue shared a couple quilts - - done is good!

Love these bright colors!

Sue? Applique? You go girl!

Abbie A has been playing with this fusible applique
First is this small scenic qiult.
Then a small purple quilt.

And this paper piecing for a large purple quilt.

We loved the backing fabric and the label.

Abbie also showed us this fun panel and requested ideas.

Celia shared her License Plate Challenge bag. Cute.

Reminder - License Plate Challenge projects are due at our January Holiday Party where everyone with a completed project will enter a special drawing.

Bonnie N showed her Dick and Jane-ish quilt, this one she machine quilted.

Guess where all the left over fabric went?

Flo W showed us her little  skunk quilt, an original design.

And this sweet elephant quilt made with a charm pack.

I love these two fun quilts, made from kits.

My demo for the evening was this tree skirt (potentially) made from a layer cake of half-square triangles.

And a new technique seen on Instagram called Split Star Point Block. You simply use half square triangle units in place of the small squares in the Flying Geese x 4 method of making flying geese units.

We ended our evening with giant cinnamon rolls from Adel's Brick Street Bakery and we recommend all to visit there for yummy baked goods.
