Labels

Remember the shirt quilt I am working on for a friend? I'm actually making 2, one for my friend and one for her daughter.  The tops are both pieced and ready for the long arm.

Friend Nikki made me these two labels. Aren't they special?

Under my needle

This is what's under my needle this week.

A friend brought me two large bags of mostly button up shirts and asked for 2 memory quilts.

The bags included a few t-shirts so I am incorporating them as well.

I stabilized the shirts with SF 101 interfacing and cut squares 8 1/2". I will add a small sashing strip between the blocks and it should make a nice large throw size.

Easter follow up

On this cold, rainy spring morning here is a glance at some Easter crafts. Start now for next year??

These are bunnies made from gloves as shown in the book Socks and Gloves. It includes instruction for lots of cute stuffed toys that can be fashioned from socks or gloves.

These were quick to make as a toy for Easter Baskets.

This was shared with me by a friend. It was made many years ago for her children. The carrot is the "tote bag" for the bunny family.

I thought it would be fun to replicate, making the family members resemble the family that receives this as a gift. I have my carrot bag done. That was the easy part.

More news on the Easter front - - -my Chicago daughter shared this from her Easter dinner. It came from a local bakery and tasted like dinner rolls (w/artificial coloring). Isn't this festive?

String Star Results

Here's a few results guests made at our April 1 String Star Class.

Each had the same assortment of fabric strips to choose from so there will not be much variety in color but these two found other ways to make it their own.
Original lay out.

Trish's lay out with color reversed.

Barb arranged her strips in the star point units to accent the directional angles.

What a fun day! Shall we do it again? Send me your ideas for the subject of our next class and I'll see if we can make it happen.

Next sewing class for Olive

We started our second sewing class with a little puzzle play, sorting and arranging a pack of mini charms.

Then O chose 4 to make a mini 4-patch quilt for her tiny hedgehog.

She layered and quilted onto a piece of batting and trimmed with pinking shears.  I'm told the hedgehog loves it!
