Animal Attraction

Animal Attraction is a new book we just got in and it is full of really cute projects. Here's the first sample we have made from the book, a baby quilt Lonnie made. Isn't this adorable?

The State Fair Tote

This is the sample we have from the Iowa Shop Hop panel. I used Insulbrite for lining so it can be used for a water bottle and lunch.

The cross body strap makes it hands free to wear which is also nice for an outing like the fair.

And the cork cloth gives it a nice finished look.

Trapunto Star

Jenny Osler made this little 12" square shop sample using a pack of 2 1/2" charms and background fabric. We have kits, of course!

Jenny decided to try trapunto on this little quilt so she used a high loft wool batting and did heavy quilting around the featured areas. Looks great.

This little quilt would look great on a 12" stand.

Baskets!

We recently got in a shipment of baskets made by women in Africa. They come as an assortment, no two alike, so we never know what we will get until they arrive.

Having so many to choose from can be a dilemma.

"Should I just get them all?"

Dian finally chose a couple as well as a new way to use a fruit basket.

AISH Fun times!

These two came from southern Iowa and Missouri to shop the hop.

This group of friends were having a blast.

These two started with us in Adel and have plans to hit every shop in the state!

Truth is, we have been so busy, it's been hard to get a lot of pictures. So sew fun!

Here we go!

Are you ready? The All Iowa Shop Hop starts today! Download a passport from the All Iowa Shop Hop Website or purchase a AISH magazine in the shop. They are going quickly. I am sure we will run out today.
Our region (SW Central Region) is featuring this pattern, Tulsa Town.  Purchase this pattern for $2. Show the pattern and your passport at any shop in the region and pick out a free fat quarter.

This year, free fat quarters are not color specific so there is no danger in a shop running out. Whew!

We have made two samples of Tulsa Town to inspire you. Kathy Hamilton made the black quilt with Kaffe Fassett fabrics and Lonnie Keeran made the white quilt with pastels and soft colors.

Aren't they both beautiful?

More new fabric!

These are so fresh and pretty, background fabrics from designer Victoria Findlay Wolfe.

More Memories!

I had a happy house full this weekend. These guys were in town for a friends wedding and spent the night here.

This morning, we did a cemetery run. The kids drew pictures and wrote notes for Gpa F.

Bless their sweet little hearts.

Memories

We will be closed on Monday, Memorial Day, to spend time with family and friends.
Frank is buried at the beautiful Oakdale Cemetery in Adel.

His beloved critters have eaten the blooms off this plant. I'm sure he would smile, maybe even encouraged it.

Part of his memorial was used to sponsor this planter, just to the right of the entrance, over looking the river where he spent much of his youth.

The planter includes this inscription, from a song we often danced to including the first dance at our wedding.

Enjoy your day with family, both present and past.

Shoppers

Kathy and Vicky were in recently to take advantage of our Purple Bag special.  Don't their faces say it all?
