More Hexie Quilts
Jenny O made this T Shirt quilt using the Hexie Tee ruler and pattern.
She didn't have very many shirts to work with so she used the backs of some and then appliqued large letters on, spelling the honorees name.
Trisha Snyder from Timberline Quilts, designed the Hexie Tee ruler and T-Shirt pattern but she isn't stopping with just one pattern. Here is her latest. Isn't this stunning?
We have the patterns and rulers in stock. We will have kits soon.
See the hexies in the close-up of the machine quilting? Trish consistently does very creative and neat work. - - - No foolin!

To our friend , Carol - May the road rise up to meet you.
Carol Jean Henry Piziali, 73, died in Des Moines, Iowa on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, St. Paddy’s Day. Appropriate for an Irish Lass. She was born August 19, 1947 to David Harrison & Mary Elizabeth (Diebler) Henry in Iowa Falls, Iowa.
Carol grew up on a farm in rural Hardin County where she attended a one room school until junior high. After graduating from Iowa Falls High School, Carol attended the University of Iowa majoring in Industrial Psychology and minoring in Music and as a proud graduate she never missed the opportunity to cheer on the Hawkeyes. Carol spent her life caring for her family and friends, raising her two children while working full time for Dallas County, Iowa. Carol was a true artist creating masterpieces with fabric and thread. She used her talent to share her love for her family and friends leaving behind a handmade legacy of quilts, needlework, and knitting.
Survivors include son, John (April) Piziali, daughter, Sarah (Aaron Greiner) Piziali, and grandchildren, Matthew (Hannah), Bailee & Kathryn and great grandchildren, Clayton & Lakelynn. Preceding her in death were her parents, David & Mary and her brother, Dick.
An open visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00pm, Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Dunn’s Chapel, 2121 Grand Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50312. Out of concern for everyone’s wellbeing, Carol’s family has requested all attending wear masks and social distance.
A private Interment of Carol’s urn will be at a later date in Union Cemetery, Iowa Falls, Iowa near her parents and brother.
Memorials in Carol’s honor may be directed to the American Cancer Society or Parkinson’s Foundation.

Moda's Grunge Temperature quilt chart
Who wants to do a temperature quilt with me? This is a chart from Moda featuring their Grunge fabrics but you can use any fabric with this as a color guide.
My plan is to make 1 blocks a month using fabrics in the color that represents the average temperature here for the month.
I'll start with January when the average temp in central Iowa was 23 so my first block is blue-ish greens.
I'm going to use this 9" Irish Chain block for mine. I think the chains across the block will create a really fun secondary color pattern. Here is the cutting information:
Color: 8 - 2" squares
1 - 3 1/2" square
Background: 4 - 2" x 3 1/2" rectangles
4 - 2" x 6 1/2" rectangles
Who wants to stitch along? I will post the temps and my blocks here as well as on our FB page.

And then she personalized it with the first letter of the new babies name. Isn't this sweet?
