At each of our retreats, we do some type of charitable outreach project. These two quilts are the results of our Spring Retreat project.
We asked each guest at retreat to bring 2 bright 2 1/2" strips. We provided the white strips. As guests were working away on their projects, they took an occasional break to sew together a strip or two on this bottom quilt and we had the quilt top done by the end of retreat. Deb S. donated the backing, batting and the machine quilting.
This quilt (the pink one) will be donated to Warrior Wagons. It's a non-profit that fills wagons with a variety of things that are then given to children in the hospital, battling cancer. You can learn more about this on their Facebook Page - Warrior Wagons, including a link for making donations.
Lonnie K. brought home the leftover strips and made a 2nd quilt (the top one). She donated the batting and backing. Deb S. again donated the machine quilting. This one will be gifted to the chef at our retreat center who will soon be a father for the first time to a baby boy. He works hard to please our group and we wanted to give back.
