Sunday Sewday!

What do you do when it's a hot humid Sunday?  Spend the day in a cool sewing room.  That's what I did.

I finished and quilted this sample of our Quilter's Trek block.

This mother/daughter duo have been completing on district each year during the All Iowa Shop Hop. 

This year, they completed the SW district with their stop here in Adel.

Library Fund Raiser

Last call to shop for the Adel Library. Sale ends June 30.

Each of these hand made items have been donated to sell. All proceeds are given to the Adel Library where so many of us love to gather and listen, learn and sew together.

This was part of my Sunday Sewing. This cork bag is about 10" wide x 12" tall. Of course, we have kits!

The fun continues

And they did not come in to hold me up!  They actually gave me money. That's my favorite kind of masked bandits.

Feature kit of the week.

Here are a few things to note:

Saturday, June 20, we are closing at 4 pm

The library conference room will remain closed until at least September so that means:

• Open Sew for the next few months - canceled
• Sisters of the Cloth 202 series -canceled (deposits will be refunded)
• Quilt Circle of Friends - I had hoped we could meet at the library for better social distancing but, since it is not available yet, we will continue to cancel QC of F for the next few months as well.

While this may not be what we want, it is understandable.  We have so much to look forward to in 2021!!! Right?? We do,  - - right???

Purple Bag Drawings

Birthday kids

I probably say this every year but, can you believe it? The twins are 7!

Great panel pattern - - -

This is Flo's hockey quilt, made for a grandson (#13). It's based on her pattern, Starry Woodland Creatures.

The panel pieces have been framed to resize to 6" increments so the 12" star blocks and the 4" x 12" flying geese units fit the design.

Honor the Flag Day

Shout out to Red Fern Landscape and Design

Meet friends Tina and Crystal from Red Fern Landscape and Design. They stopped by las week to help refresh the shop landscape with container plantings.

They will come back each quarter to swap out plantings. 

This is a beautiful Impatient plant, a birthday gift from Lonnie. It was out front but did not match the new color scheme so the gals from Red Fern suggested it find a new home. Here is her new home in the back yard in a large bucket I recently purchase at At Home. Love it here! 

Circle of Friends

Jenny Osler made our Circle of Friends pattern up but added her own twist, a hand embroidered emblem to the middle. She also machine quilted with trapunto.

Annual Library Fund Raiser

It's that time of year! Time for our annual fund raiser for the local library where we love to gather and stitch.  Here are a few items for sale now, donated by local quilters.

New Bag

This is a new shop sample made from an old pattern, Flo's Hexie Bag. Instead of piecing hexies, I cut the outer bag the same size as the lining but otherwise followed her excellent directions.

This fabric from Moda is a heavier weave, great for a bag!  I used the light foam-like interfacing made by Soft and Stable. Now I just need some place to go with my new bag!
