Have you tried webbing?

 JoAnne showed us "webbing" at quilt retreat this week.  This is basically chain piecing blocks together. It allows you to go to the ironing board and press seams to oppose, keeps the rows in order and saves on thread as you eliminate most of the starts and stops.

Blocks 17 an 18

 

Here are blocks #17 and 18 of American Gatherings. 

I'll have to catch up on Blocks #19 and 20 after quilt retreat next week but that will be the end of this Block of the Week from Primitive Gatherings!

Sometimes I think it's easier to keep up with a block of the week or of the day than it is one each month. There's is not as much time to procrastinate. What do you think?

Wise Monkey Retreat Center

I was fortunate to spend a couple days quilting with friends at the Wise Monkey Quilt Retreat Center in Dennison, Iowa recently.  The owners of the Wise Monkey quilt shop, next door, have really put a lot of thought into what makes for a great sewing/gathering area.  Check it out!

It's Open Sew Friday!

 

This Friday, October 15, is Open Sew at the Adel Library!

Doors open at 9 am. Grab your stuff and come on in.  The tables are not arranged as they were previously. However, the new tables are easier to set up.   They are light weight and on rollers.  Just grab one and set up wherever you want.

Bring your iron, sewing supplies and, at your option, a snack to share.

Show and tell is at 10:30.  If you don't want to come to sew for the day, just drop in for show and tell!

I have a babysitting gig in northern Iowa this weekend so will miss out but hope you all will enjoy a day with quilting buddies, - - - chatting, stitching and sharing ideas.
