Oh, and by the way, thanks to many of you for your the concern. Here's the truth though. I am not up at 3 am to post. I schedule several posts at a time and I always schedule them to post at 3 am. That way, even on the west coast, if someone checks their blog news before they start their day, we'll be there, smiling and waving Good Morning!

An important part of Kris's holiday is to make 30 or 40 little gifts for co-workers, family and friends. This year, it's wool mittens from Goodwill and Salvation Army finds.

Another part of our series of classes is hand stitching. With just 3 classes in each series, we can't get a very big quilt done. This years project is what we call a Tank Top. It will fit perfectly on the top of a toilet tank.

Since the death of her husband, Linda has been healing her heart via quilting. This quilt would make anyone happy, right?

And here's something we need to look into! These are 2-color Prairie Points. So pretty!

Service Project

In this series of Sisters of the Cloth, we did a service project. At each class, I gave students a piece of red fabric and a block pattern. They added more patriotic fabrics to complete the block. Here are a few collected at our November class.  These blocks will go into our next Dallas County 4-H Fair Auction Quilt.

Angel Tree

Our Angel Tree is up with names of folks who will be spending their holiday in a Dallas County Domestic Violence Shelter. 

We have lists that show the gender, age, size and some suggestions of what each needs or wishes for. 

We ask that you adopt a name to shop for and we provide a free pillow case to use as your "gift wrapping".  Gifts are due back here by December 10.

Out of the goodness of her heart, Renee G. has made 100 pillowcases for us to donate to charities this year!

She made one batch out of Christmas fabric, specifically for our Angel Tree. You are an Angel, Renee. Thanks!

We have 12 names left. Call or stop by soon to make a holiday wish for someone without come true.

Ankeny Area Quilters

Last of Retreat

Here is the last of the pictures taken at retreat. Such a fun and creative time. Thank you so much to all who came and all who helped.

Comfort Quilt News

All of our retreats include a Comfort Quilt project. This year, we made 4 baby quilts from this brick pattern. Julia pre-cut all of the bricks in the shop prior to retreat and I passed them around to guests to stitch a few together and then, as it progressed, to add a row. Another example of the good work done by many hands.

Two of these baby quilts will go to Wagon Warriors (for kids in treatment) and two will go to the Mercy PICU.

We are also collecting blocks for a Comfort Quilt for a local gal in treatment. Here are a few of the blocks that were made by quilters at retreat for that project.
