T Shirt Quilt

This is what I have been working on during our cold snap. It's for a silent auction school fundraiser at the grand kids school, Roland-Story. Being a Scandinavian Community, they are the Norsemen. Notice the little pillow with Norsemen warrior  braids. That is my favorite shirt.

Treats for your Valentine

No Bake Chocolate Protein Balls

Ingredients

·       3/4 cup + 2 tablespoons peanut butter

·       1/4 cup maple syrup

·       2 teaspoons water

·       1 teaspoon vanilla extract

·       2/3 cup almond flour

·       3 tablespoons cocoa powder

·       6 tablespoons dark chocolate chips 

Mix well and roll into small balls.  Can refrigerate or freeze

Options:

You can add flax seed to make it healthier. I also added slivered almonds that I had toasted. 

Use Almond Butter in place of Peanut Butter if dealing with peanut allergies.

Larry's quilts

Larry Reed stopped by, looking for a flannel coordinate. He brought these quilt tops to show. Larry said he likes to keep busy when the cold air keeps him inside.

Larry created this lay out to make a heart in the center. Focus on the green squares to see the heart. This is for grandchild #9!

As you may notice, he has quite a collection of tractor and barn fabrics.

Looking for a volunteer

Customers have made 2 Comfort Quilts for us to donate to the Mercy PICU. We donated the fabrics and supplies, Deb Semmens donated the machine quilting. Now we are looking for someone to sew on the binding. It can be finished by hand or by machine.  Give us a call at 515-993-1170. Thanks!

Tan and Teal

Had a customer in today looking for tan and teal to make a quilt block. Teal can be hard to define, as can tan. Aren't these colors pretty together.

Sue R was in recently and showed this quilt she is making for a friend in the military. The request was for a yellow, grey and black quilt and Sue felt this pattern was appropriate. I agree.

Visit us in the quilt shop on Thursday this week to celebrate Lonnie's birthday with a donut. Her bday is actually the day before but - - - even in Adel, Wednesdays forecast is borderline lovely. The donuts are free and the new fabrics coming in are gorgeous!

QC Party

Quilt Circle Holiday Party was this week. We always wait until January to avoid the conflicts of the busy season in December. This group knows how to party!

Of course we started with a great potluck.

Then we gathered in our circle.

 Show and Tell at this gathering focused in part on our Get Er Done projects and our License Plate Challenge projects. 

Get Er Done is a project we do every year.  It's a commitment from members to finish at least one quilt in their line up of projects. 

A few months ago, I gave everyone in group a cloth license plate and challenged them to create something with it.
