Happy Thanksgiving

 

There's more than one reason to stay home today! Hope you and yours have a blessed and restful day.

When I remember the things for which I am thankful, I count all of you twice.

Holiday Hours

We hope this holiday finds you all well and content.  We will be closed on Thanksgiving day only.  We will be open on Friday and Saturday.

In the meanwhile, here's a new recipe I plan to try on Thursday:

 Honey Skillet Corn

In a skillet, melt 2T honey with 2T butter. 

Sautee chopped onion with green and red bell peppers

Stir in 12 oz frozen corn  - Simmer 5 to 6 minutes

Melt in 2 oz of cream cheese (chunked)

salt and pepper to taste

Sunday Sewday

I enjoyed making Christmas masks to send to Texas. I have finally have the sizing and comfort style down.  Here is the pic they sent back today:

Isn't this pretty fabric? Julia added a couple borders and this is ready to gift to a granddaughter with another one under her needle now for the other granddaughter!

This is a stunning panel and just needs quilting and binding to be done. It's a 57" square.

Also available in blue and just as pretty.

Knitting 101

I have been taking knitting classes and just completed my first project. It is so fun! 

Classes have been at 3rd Place in Adel and, post Covid, the plan is to transition from a class to just a group of quilters that get together to quilt on Thursday evenings.  The Thursday Night Knitting Club. 

Fall quilt

 Lonnie is not slowing down! I think this is #11 since the pandemic started. Aren't these beautiful fall colors. On closer inspection, there is just a dash of purple in it really accents nicely.

Sunday Sewday!

 

I spent most of Sunday taking advantage of the pleasant temps and winterizing the yard but I did sneak in about 30 minutes of sewing time to make this darling little stocking. 

 Great little gift by itself or as a little gift container.

Gift Certificates? We are still selling them with a May 2021 expiration date.

A Taste of Fall

 If you missed the Tasters Mystery Tour, here it is. No longer a mystery!  We have the patterns for sale now.

Angels are here!

 The angels for our holiday charity project have just floated in. They are all children from the age of 3 months to 7 years old.

Stop by soon and pick an angel to sponsor for Christmas. Their wish lists are each short and simple.

An anonymous donor has made pillowcases to wrap your gifts in and you can choose your favorite.

We would like your gifts returned here by December 10 if possible.

 Avery came in with her Omah and found a good way to entertain herself while she waited. She's all thimbles and spool wraps.

Angel Tree is back

 

We have a list of 15 names of Angels that need your help to celebrate the holidays.

We have a very generous and kind anonymous donor who has made a pillowcase for each angel. 

All you need do is come in, pick a pillowcase and adopt an angel. Place your gifts in the pillowcase and return it to us.

The folks from the Dallas County Domestic Violence Shelter will pick up and deliver our gifts on December 15.

Halloween Costumes

 

Willow created these costumes for her littles. The boys are characters from Hamilton and they know all the words to all the raps. Olivia is Rey from Star Wars. She's fierce so you better give her good candy!

We had fun in the shop, too. I was The Stripper and Jenny O. came in dressed as Al Borland from Tool Time complete with a Binford Tools hat.

Birthday Girl

This little girl is 38 years old today!  Happy Birthday, Willow!

This big girl is probably about 38 years old in this picture. We were on vacation in Colorado. I'm sure Brookly, a then teenager, was sleeping in the car.

 

New Pattern

 

This new table topper pattern is now available in kit.

It's official!

Lonnie is retired. She hasn't worked since the beginning of this pandemic but, today we had a little social gathering to officially send her off into retirement.

Lonnie made this Circle of Friends quilt and had her guests sign it today.

We had some snacks. Note to self: Don't require masks and then serve cookies! Oh, this new world we have to get used to.

We had a little trunk show of quilts Lonnie has made while in semi-quarantine.

She wrote her last receipt and then she was gone!

Thank you, Lonnie, for 11 years of working by my side.

Lonnie finished up her Village quilt, one house for every day she was off work due to Covid from mid March until - - - well, looks like 81 days!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

 I am working ahead as fast as I can on this block each day breast cancer awareness quilt. One more row and a small border and this quilt top is pieced.

My goal, with a little help from a machine quilter, is to have it bound and hanging in the shop for the kick off of the Tasters Mystery Tour, October 30 thru November 7.

A gift from Mother Nature

 

Mother Nature installed a satellite dish in my backyard! I didn't even know I needed one.

With the election coming up, some new patriotic prints seemed appropriate.  These patriotic pigs just make me think of life an Iowa farm.

Customer Show and Share

Nancy Johnson was in town to pick up quilts from the long armer so she stopped in to show me.

She made this one with Flo's Puppy Quilt pattern. I love the scrappy colors.

Nancy didn't have the full puppy panel so she created this large block, pulling from her stash of orphan parts and pieces.

This is a baby quilt she put together to add to her church's supply of donation comfort quilts.

And another for her church.

Her favorite part of this quilt is this verse she featured in the center of the quilt.
