September Sisters of the Cloth

September has flown by and with it, another great gathering of Sisters of the Cloth.
Our guest speaker was Historian, Kathy Wilson with another fascinating program on woman's history.

As always, Kathy's program generated lots of good conversation.
And then we had show and tell of both the old and new.

Lori shared this quilt and the story it represents, one of love, healing and support.

Our last gathering of this series will be in November when Cyndi Craigmile will share a trunk show of her quilt trail.

Texas Trip

I am just home from a long weekend in Texas, visiting son Gabe. It rained the whole time I was there but was still a great time.
We found a fun way to spend a rainy day together, playing Scrabble at a coffee house. I won't say who won but it was me.

I also squeezed in a visit with a couple of my cousins in the area. This is cousin Judy Neal Johannasen. Just today, she welcomes twin Grandbabies!!!

Gabe lives in the Dallas suburb of McKinney which has a historic downtown shopping area. I met this styling old gal at one of the shops.

Gabe's girlfriend, Brooke, gave me a tour of the Gammill Long Arm store where she works. This is the warehouse of thread.

This is the purple long arm machine I have been posting pictures of, also from the shop where Brooke works.

She and I also enjoyed pedicures and lunch while Gabe was at work.
Friday evening, in spite of several 30 minute delays for lightening, I got to watch Gabe's team win.  It was a fun get away, especially since I redeemed myself by getting to the right airport this time!

Class Pics

It was chilly Saturday so we moved most of our "yard party" inside, going out just long enough to dunk fabric in the vat.

Once again, it was a great class. We will be scheduling many more classes with Maggie Howe from Prairieland Herbs in the future!

Here's a few shots of the day.

Yep. Those are socks. As they dry, the green color will leave.

Indigo Dyeing Class

Indigo Dyeing Class:

We are still on for class tomorrow morning, Sept 29. The rain will be moved on.

As it will still be cool, we will do most of the class in the shop classroom and take fabric outside to hang and dry. Wear warm clothes that you don't mind if you get a little messy with the dye!

Notion Talk

Bonnie Nelsen is our Quilter Feature this month. Check her out here.

At our Quilt Circle meeting this week, Bonnie did a demo using the wool pressing mat and Bloc Loc ruler. These came in the next day.
These new wool pressing mats are nice because they heat from the top and the bottom as you press with the iron.
