The average high temp in central Iowa for June was 86 degrees. That makes our color for this month's block rosy red.
I have been noting the month on the color chart each month to help keep track of the order of the blocks.
Our dear friend Carol was a master at most any fiber art and the collection of fabric and supplies that she left behind reflects it.
Her children are hosting a garage sale of her collection this week at 1309 Grove St in Adel. That's about 4 blocks north and 4 blocks west of the quilt shop.
Peruse some of the items for sale on Craigslist here.
The sale is this week, Thursday, Friday and Saturday beginning at 9 am each day.
Stop by to see us and we will give you a free spool of thread!
These two are sisters, working on a quilt together. It's for their grandmother who said she would like to have it before she turns 90! She is now 88.
It was really special to watch them chat and stitch. I couldn't resist a picture.
Sunday, June 27 is the annual spring luncheon sponsored by the Adel Woman's Club.
The women of this club donate their best home made salads and desserts for this popular event.
Funds raised are donated to local non-profits and college scholarships for Adel grads.
This year, the venue will be the beautiful Country Lane Lodge, just outside of Adel.
Tickets are available online at eventbrite.com (can be purchased in combination with the garden tour that day or not)
Tickets can be purchased in person at our shop or at Ade HealthMart.
Great location - Great food - Great cause - Beautiful venue
UPDATE!! RETIREMENT NEWS
I have set a retirement date of July 16, 2021 to close the storefront. At least through the end of the year, we will still be selling online and have retreats and gatherings scheduled.
Even after my retirement, the retreats at Lake Panorama will continue.
You are invited to our Grand Closing Celebration July 13, 14, 15 and 16, 2021, much like the Grand Opening party we had on this very same date, July 16, 2002.
The Grand Closing will include a free pincushion to the first 50 guests each day, just as we did at our Grand Opening.
We will also have a free commemorative quilt pattern for each guest, aptly named “Piece Be With You”
On July 16, we will hold one last Outdoor Quilt show. featuring some of our Block of the Month quilts from the past 20 years.
And, of course, there will be eats.
SAVE THE DATE - July 13, 14, 15 or 16
We are looking for a few volunteers to help at the Adel Garden Tour, Sunday, June 27. There are 5 Adel gardens on the tour.
Responsibilities are to simply be in a yard to help monitor the traffic flow through the yard and answer questions guests may have.
The evening before (June 26 at 4:30 pm) will be a gathering of all homeowners and volunteers. We will do our own pre-show tour of all 5 gardens together and answer your questions before the big show the next day.
If you are interested in being a volunteer for this afternoon event, please call me at 515-993-1170.
Are you ready? It's time to add more to our list of Purple Bag Specials:
Until July 16, Purple Bag Cub members continue to shop 10 fat quarters for $20.
For the whole month of June, purchase any regular width fabric, cut from the bolt, for just $8 a yard! !

When I get away for a few days of stitching with friends, I like to grab several small things that just need a little finish up.
